One of the most popular onward destinations from York, Edinburgh is a fantastic city to visit as part of your UK tour. The train journey from York to Edinburgh can take as little as 2 hrs 30 minutes, but can still take up an entire day of your holiday: breakfast at the hotel, pack your bags, check out at 10:30. Taxi to the station, catch the train at 11:30. Train journey of 2 hrs 30 minutes. Taxi to your hotel. Check in at the hotel. Before you know it, it’s already 3:45pm and all you’ve done is change cities.

Hadrian’s Wall – the Northern Frontier

This fantastic transfer tour to Hadrian’s Wall takes you to the ancient borderline between the Roman Empire and the wild lands to the north. The historic northern frontier runs across the country from east to west, and you’ll have chance to see this famous wall and visit the remains of forts and milecastles on its route.

During your time in Northumberland you’ll explore Housesteads Roman Fort and visit the Roman Army Museum at Vindolanda. You’ll also have the option of walking a section of the Wall past Sycamore Gap, one of the most iconic places on Hadrian’s Wall.

Finally you’ll reach Carlisle, where you’ll continue your transfer by train to Edinburgh.


Through the Moors and along the Coast

Perfect if you didn’t have time to explore the Yorkshire countryside during your visit to York, this Transfer Tour travels from York through the truly stunning North York Moors National Park. During your time in Haworth you can spend time at the remarkable Bronte Parsonage, the former home of the Bronte sisters where they spent most of their lives and where they wrote their celebrated novels. The Bronte Parsonage is now a museum which celebrates the life and works of the famous literary sisters.

Hadrian’s Wall – The Northern Frontier

Your journey to the Lake District could take you to the northern frontier of the Roman Empire as you explore the fascinating forts, excavations and scenery along the route of Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland. From your hotel in York you’ll travel north to Newcastle before following the route of the Hadrian’s Wall from east to west. You can walk along the most dramatic section of the wall, enjoying amazing views across the Northumberland countryside, as well as visiting some of the excavated forts and sites of interest along the wall, including:

A Trip to Chatsworth
