Chatsworth House is one of Britain’s best-loved stately homes, famously featured as ‘Pemberley’ in the 1995 and 2005 TV and film adaptations of Pride & Prejudice.

The impressive house and estate at Chatsworth serve as the seat of the Duke of Devonshire and has been home to successive generations of the Cavendish family since 1549.

Chatsworth, Bakewell and a drive through the Peak District

Beginning with a leisurely start to the day, you’ll be collected from your accommodation after breakfast at 9:15am. We’ll then travel directly to Chatsworth House, aiming to arrive as the house and gardens open at 11:00am.

You can then begin your exploration of Chatsworth, perhaps beginning with a tour of the house itself. You’ll be able to explore the impressive interiors at leisure, enjoying the assistance of informative guides in the house.

You can then enjoy a light lunch at one of Chatsworth’s dining options, including the Carriage House Café and the Farmyard Café.

You can then complete your tour of Chatsworth by exploring the magnificent grounds and gardens. Discover the history of the Chatsworth Garden, spread out over 105 acres that includes a Victorian Rock Garden and Maze, historic waterworks and fantastic sculptures.

Following the visit to Chatsworth House, we’ll take a short drive from Chatsworth to Bakewell, a charming market town on the edge of the Peak District. You’ll have time in Bakewell to explore the gorgeous town and to enjoy afternoon tea in a local tearoom – of course taking the opportunity to sample a Bakewell Tart – the cake that has made the town famous.

The journey from Chatsworth to York continues from Bakewell as we head north through the Peak District, enjoying a taste of the beautiful scenery and dramatic landscapes of this picturesque National Park.

We then continue the journey back to York and drop off at your accommodation in the city.

Pride & Prejudice Tour

Explore ‘Pemberley’ and the amazing scenery of the Peak District on a Pride & Prejudice themed tour to Chatsworth from York.

We’ll collect you in York at 8:00am to begin the journey to the Peak District. Here we’ll meet up with a specialist local guide for an in-depth tour of the filming locations, country houses and scenery which featured in the 1995 TV adaptation and 2005 film of Pride & Prejudice. At the heart of the tour is a visit to Chatsworth House, but you’ll also visit Haddon Hall, spend time in the town of Bakewell (where you can visit the famous Bakewell Pudding Shop) and explore some of the scenic highlights of the Peak District National Park.

Finally, you’ll bid farewell to your local Peak District guide and begin the journey back to York with Grand Yorkshire.

Chatsworth tours from York – as a transfer tour

You can enjoy a visit to Chatsworth from York as part of a transfer tour with Grand Yorkshire. As you plan your touring itinerary, include a visit to Chatsworth House as you travel between York and London.

If you are leaving London and heading to York, you can arrange to meet Grand Yorkshire at Chesterfield Railway Station. We’ll then travel the short distance to Chatsworth House and eventually continue the journey to your hotel in York.

If you are heading to London from York, we’ll collect you from your hotel in York and enjoy a day trip to Chatsworth as normal. At the end of the tour, we’ll drop you at Chesterfield Railway Station so you can continue by train to central London.
